I am new to the reef tank hobby and purchased a 125g system 2. Unfortunately I am now learning that this particular tank is not the best tank for a reef environment. I have received some suggestions, such as adding new filtration system and skimmer and am looking for some advise as to what modifications any of you may suggest. If anybody has some helpful suggestions I would love to hear them!

I started reading posts on several web sites and plan to continue reading before I set up my first tank in March or April. I've read a couple books on water quality and filtration to better understand the science of that too, its so much more than I first thought. The one consistent thing that I've learned from several sites is to take your time.

Alot of people are more than willing to give advice, can you go into more detail about what is wrong with the 125g? Is it a lack of overflow and plumbing or did you hear something about the actual dimentions of the tank?

It is the flow and filtration that are the potential problems. Unfortunately this system has the filtration and water flow combined. It has bio-balls for filtration and it was suggested by a couple people that this system does not provide adaquate water flow. Their suggestion was to get rid of the bio-ball system and to add a separate pump and add a skimmer. I plan to move some of my soft corals from my small tank to the 125g in a few months and just want to provide the best reef environment.
