Molting or dead

Can anyone tell me how to tell the difference lol? This is my first shrimp. I noticed he did not come out at feeding with my fish. So i looked around and i found a front half and a back half of his shell with nothing inside

molting, just pulled one from our tank the other day lol

When there is nothing inside. It means molting. Generally, with shrimp if you have crabs and they die you will never see anything till you do a complete cleaning and you still may not see anything. If it was a recent death you would see uneaten parts attached to the exoskelaton

Fantastic. Water parameters are good except the temp got to like 84 today. Damn heat caught me by surprise with all the windows shut in my appt
