I got a few nice pieces today and was trying to get an ID on them. The first one is Some sort of monti. It needs to be colored up some. To me it doesn't look like a cap.

The Second piece is in the acropora family, Not sure what type, if anyone can help me with a species ID the would be appreciated. It has some coloring up to do as well. But I just loved the blue tips and yellow ring around the top polyp.

Ok well I'm going to use some of my fish nerd knowledge here and try and attempt to tell you what these 2 corals are. The first one I believe is what is called a Barney Montipora. The second one could be a Hightlight Acropora tenuis. Hope this helps a little. You can always do some google searches for these types of coral as well.

The Monti does look a possible Barney. You're right in that it doesn't look like a cap. More like an encrusting to me. Barney Monti is an encrusting. Obviously, Barney is referring to the purple and green coloring, not a species...lol. Possibly M. undata.

The second definitely looks to be from the A. tenuis family. It'll probably turn more yellow/brown with good lighting and the tips will stay nice and blue.

Thanks alot everyone for the help. My initial thought was a bleached receded M. Undata. The reason I thought it was Undata was because of the polyps forming circles rather than just being flower-like. As for the second I think you are right on. Thanks
