Hey Everyone,

My name is Marc. I currently live in San Diego and work in the industry down here. My wife and I plan to move up to Seattle in a few months and just wanted to introduce myself and show off some of my current tanks. I currently plan to bring my tank with me. My tank is currently running soft corals, but used to be SPS. I removed them for simplicity's sake. It's my long-term goal to set up a few propagation tanks and grow SPS in the Emerald City. Enjoy!

Very nice! I'm sure you'll love the Puget Sound area.

Thanks! I lived in Ballard for a few years before moving back to SD. I met my wife up there too. We just miss the greenery and the city. After being born and raised down here, we just are fed up with the crowds, the traffic, and the insane cost of living. I will miss working down here though. Being a few hours from LA, I just hop in the company truck and go hand pick all of our specimens.

I was doing some research at good LFS's. It seems that Barrier Reefs and Seaking stand out. Are there a lot of local reefers in Seattle?

You will enjoy coming back. Still the best place to live.
I'd love to have a mated pair of Flames.

Also some other stores to put on your list is Oceans By Design and Saltwater City and Sharks Reef.

You think you want a mated pair of flames until they pick every single SPS polyp you have :D... The Burgess and Filefish are harmless though. Thanks I will check those fish stores out. I currently pull NSW from the ocean here in SD, obviously I do not have that luxury in WA so I'm going to go back to Tropic Marin. Does anyone know of any stores that carry TM salt, TM balling additives, any Zeovit Products? I'm sure i'm just gonna have to breakdown and buy online thought I would prefer to shop locally. Online retailers are the devil thats killing the industry haha.

Here are a couple other candids from the tank...

My favorite fish hands down! Japanese collected plesiops coeruleolineatus. The only other one I have ever seen reported was an aberrant specimen held in Kevin Kohen's personal tanks several years ago.

You can get NSW from the Seattle Aquarium. Atleast you use to be able to.

Good to know. Would be closer to where we plan to live then any of the other LFS.

Here in SD we have a tap with filtered water at Scripps Institute of Oceanography. The water is pumped to the local public aquarium.

yup welcome to seattle. Woohooo! We need sps guys lol.
Up north in everett is kinda the hot spot. The south end needs some organization and communication imo.
welcome again and happy tankin!

Welcome Marc. We have several LFS here. Oceans by Design in Tukwila, Barrier Reef in Renton, Red C in north Seattle, Shark Reef in Silverdale on the west side of Puget Sound, Saltwater City in Bellevue and Seaking Aquariums in Bellevue. We also have a couple of pet stores that have saltwater fish and coral dept. Denny's Pet World in Kirkland, Sierra Pets in Renton and you can see Josh at Petco in north Tacoma, probably the best saltwater store in the Petco stores. He's great and knowledgeable. That will give you an idea. I am sure there are more but that's what I can think of off the top of my head. I hope you will enjoy it here. We also have a frag swap in February in Renton. You need to be a member of Puget Sound Aquarium Society or pay admission. It's a lot of fun, lots of corals.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!!

I've already shopped around and got a few quotes. Im debating if I want to go complete SPS again or also toying around with doing a subtropical reef (~70 degrees) and keeping some more Japanese fish.

Here are some more pictures
