i bought one three days ago. i know they take a while to adjust and open up, but the stalk looks funny. it is very rigid and bumpy. it was smooth when i bought it. i am new to leathers, so i don't know if this is normal. also, the crown is getting shiny . is this normal? please give suggestions.

The leather is going into its molting stage if you see the coral shine. The coral will keep retracted until that film has come off. Sufficient water movement will make sure that this film is washed off. Just have patience because leathers are one of the hardiest of soft corals. They jsut need time to adjust.
