My mushrooms are separating from the live rock that they were on from LFS. They have been in the tank for a little over two weeks and have been looking good, spreading out and looking beautiful. I had two of the mushrooms separate from the LR and have relocated to the substrate between two rocks. They are alive and well, spread out and look healthy, they just aren't attached anymore. Is this normal. Should I leave them alone or try reattaching them to rock and if so what do I use to reattach them and how do I do it without killing them?

They do that sometimes. If they have sand attached to their base you can just use superglue gel and glue them down where ever you want them. Or you can set them on the rock somewhere where there is low flow and they should attach themselves. It could be too much flow in that area for them and thats why they are moving.

When I had my red mushroom detach from it's perch (luckily it left a baby behind) I put it in my sump in a container full of rubble rock and covered with cheese cloth. Within a week it had found a piece of rubble to attach to. It's now back in the DT.

To much flow or light will often cause them to move/lift off. In the wild they are usually found at an angle to the sun (verticle or diagonally oriented) so similar placement in our aquaria is best. Dave brought up a interesting aspect of these animals that can easily be induced. By taking the piece of LR they are attached to and rotating it away from light source (or sometimes into) they will often crawl back towards (or away from) light leaving small pieces of foot behind which quickly become new lil shrooms

Cheers, Todd
