I have a feeling this is a little different the getting my first little pony, and I am a bit nervous.

On Wed. I am having delievered my very first anemone, a bubble tip. What should I know from point of arrive to making sure it survives for years to come.

Thanks

BRIGHT light, clean water
leave it alone.. don't handel at all if you can help it..
already gonna be stressed..
if you have good enough light you wont need to feed it but I would have some silversides on hand if you need to nurse it back to health or just want to feed.

I'd like to tag along on this one. I just got water in my 55 on saturday and would like to find out more things like this before it is ready to have livestock introduced to it. It's good to be prepared than to find things out after you've lost something.
I am wondering, did you start with any fish, or is the Anemone the first thing you are putting in your tank?

I made that mistake of putting a NEM in a new tank with week lights and lost it slowly.
They like bright lights and a very established tank..

When you are putting it in the tank, should you place it anywhere in particular, such as on a rock ledge or on the bottom of the tank. I know they will move eventually to where they like it best.

Then it would be best to start with a few fish and make sure the tank is stable before getting Anemones?

Well, the tank has been running for about 1 year and half with nothing in it. About two weeks ago I added hermit crabs and snails. On Wed, I am getting the anemone, and some fish (two which are clowns).

I had heard that Bubble Tips are pretty hardy, I hope that is true.

put the NEM in the tank on some rocks out of flow..
He'll find a happy spot..
Careful to screen the powerheads so you don't get NEM sushi
the overflow can get them too so screen that if you can..
And yes a stable tank is what you want..
IDGY your good with tank age
What lights you got?
And BT's are pretty hardy considering some other types..

I put a rose bubble tip in my 3 month old tank and feed it 2 pellets a week. It was very happy and then vanished for 2 days. We finally found it in the refugium!!!!! It had divided into 2. We were able to bring one of them up and left the other in the refugium. Then it split again!!! One of them is quite healthy and happy and the other is way inside a rock, extended tube and facing the sand. Someone on this site told me that it is probably trying to develop a mouth and should be fine. The whole thing is way too interesting and cool!

It was taking a journey into the abyssal zone.

"idgy" Patiently waiting for your new arrival.

Hope to get updates.
