Last night I bought a beautiful maroon (~2") from Goby2004. I put it in the tank, the maroon was being attacked by the old big maroon (~5") and the six line!!!!!:doubt:  They both, old big maroon and the six line, chased the new maroon around the tank. I turned off all the light in hope they stopped the chase and the new maroon could find a place to get used to the new environment.

This morning, the new little beautiful maroon could not make it. I was shocked. It seems like I can't put another maroon inside the tank!

A day earlier, I bought a pair of firefish and they got along very well. Not sure it's just the maroon!

Have you ever encountered similar situation?

*sigh* for my new little maroon.

Sorry to hear of your loss. :(

I know that the clown fish, and it seems ESPECIALLY the Maroon's, are very territorial and new additions are very roughly treated, establishing their territory.

If you try again in the future, you might try re-arranging your tank just as you add your new clown. Sometimes this helps break up those territories boundaries our current fish have established in our tanks... and helps with allowing the new addition establish some hiding hole that our older fish don't conceder theirs.

Sorry to hear john.. I've heard that putting the mate close to the other maroon in a sepearate tank is a good method for introducing.. I've never heard of a wrasse also tag teaming though. sad :(

sorry to hear that!!! losing fish really sucks.....clowns are aggressive towards each other sometimes...i hope you can get it to work out with some other fish!!:)

Thank you all. I wonder why the wrasse also attacked the maroon... He chased the maroon from one end of the tank to the other end and back. That is weird. My fish are not normal :)

these maroon clowns are so mean. I'm so sorry for the loss. It had to be hard to watch them ctaching the new little guy. I got rid of 1 that I've had for a very long time just cause she started pishing corals over. She would even try to move rock. I tried to take it for as long as I could but when it came to knocking stuff over it was time. So she went from my 120g to a 225g and I hope she's happy now.

I had a very bad experience pairing maroons also. If you want a pair, the safest bet is getting rid of your female (I am sure someone will give it a good home) and finding a pair. Otherwise you might go through a lot of dead clowns, even if you do it properly.
