I want to downsize from a successful 60 gallon tank to a 12 or 24 gallon self contained nano system. These are sold as complete units w/o protein skimmers. Has anyone out there tried these?

I have a 12 gallon nano cube. It is really a great tank, but I would love to stick a skimmer on it. I removed all the media from the back compartments, and only have some softies, one fish, and a couple of small LPS. I actually think the nano is a lot more work compared to the 120 gallon. What do you think you'll keep in your nano?

I had a 5G nano for quite a while. I ended up upgrading it to a 20G + 10G sump simply so I could put a skimmer on it. Its made a world of difference in terms of maintaining it even with a much higher livestock load. I don't think I would run skimmerless, especially not on a tank that small, unless I were able to do water changes every couple of days.
