Need advice

Ok so my wife bought a Kodak digital last year and it is ok I can't really complain but I would like something a little better.

I am looking for something that take good pictures if my tank, and yet something I can get great shots of my kids with their sports.

Without spending 1000's.......

I am not much of a camera geek so if you are in Spokane and have something that you like maybe you can spend some time helping me out....

Could be a frag or something in it for your time.

I have a canon rebel xti and I love it! All the photos that I take of my tank and family are with that camera! I could use a macro for it, but for the average person it's awsome! I live in the valley and could be of some assistance if you get an SLR. If you wanna play around with one before you buy, let me know also.
