I am going to replumb my 72 gallon system such that it will have enough flow for SPS . Currently I am using a Mag 7 return pump that is going to 2 spray bars ( the tank was originally going to be used for Seahorses & we didnt want any strong flow) I have also added 3 SEIO 820 PowerHEads in the tank to aid flow. THis is creating some good laminar flow but i would like it to be more erratic. The tank currently is controlled by a ReefKeeper but I am not able to use the wavemaker with the SEIOs. plus the Seios are taking up a lot of room in the tank. I have acquired a MAG 24, Mag7 , Mag 3, I also have multiple Powerheads that I could use so pumps & such is not a prob... Please shoot me any Ideas that you may have. I am also thinking of just adding an external pump & getting rid of the all the Mags as they are Loud & add alot of heat to the water...so HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPP.

Thanks Pics of the currenty set up below.

In the sump pic .. the timer on the sump is temp... I just put it on this AM.... I will mount it to the wall of the stand shortly....

I assume when you say timer you include the outlet bar. Balanced above the water? Not very good idea for even a short time, vibration, etc and kablooey.
Point one SEIO toward the top for agitation, the others look fine. Erratic flow is awesome, but would not sweat about it very much. IMHO, Concentrate on lighting for SPS. Larger SEIOs couldn't hurt if you have an opportunity to swap or upgrade somehow.

Yep. Timer / power bar mounted...... As far as lighting I think that is covered 3 250watt MH running 10k bulbs with 2 110 watt VHO, ( 1 Actinic & 1 50/50)

If possible I would like to not have to use the powerheads. I think that by redesignening the plumbing,( using pumps) I can clean up the looks in the tank & also get a better flow pattern,

Starting to think a wave 2K or WaveBox...
