We are pretty sure that we have cyano, it's a dark red and gets bubblely, but the other stuff is a lighter red and it clumps the sand. Anyone have an idea??
All looks like Cyano to me. Vacuum up what you can, it's alright if you suck up some sand. Then change your powerheads a little to get more flow into that area. Should take care of it.
Thank you Mike, we have been doing this. Our tank is narrow, so it's tuff to get a good flow with out stiring up a lot of sand. When we get our 120xl, it shouldn't be as much of a problem.
Thanks again Deanne
Narrow tanks are harder to create good flow. Adjust slowly and even if it disturbs the sand bed, as long as it's minimal, the sand will settle quickly and once the sand adjusts to the new flow pattern, it'll be much better.
