Hi, I recently bought an American Marine PH montitor and probe that was used. It reads 3-4 ph in my tank which must be wrong because my test kits and my LFS say my ph is fine. Before I buy a new probe which are spendy I would like to verify that the unit works. I am looking for someone who has an American Marine or actually any brand PH meter and probe that uses BNC connector so I could come over and plug my head unit into your probe to verify it works. Looking for someone close to Federal Way ,
thanks so much

The PH probes (any brand) I believe need to stay wet or they are toast. Do you have any calibration fluid to try and reset it to see if it still holds true ???

Cheers, Todd

Look at Premium Aquatics brand pH probes for replacement. They are actually made by Reef Fanatic and Premium sells them for less than the RF branded ones, even though its the same item.

PH probes need to be recalibrated at least every month. I actually recalibrate mine every two weeks as I see a drift in the readings at about that time frame. PH probes also need to be periodically cleaned by soaking them in a mildly acidic solution, (vineager is a good solution for this), to dissolve any critters/coralline algae that has encrusted on it. I save the little capsule the probe ships in to do this.

Plugging your pH probe into someone else's monitor is not going to help you. It will need to be recalibrated everytime you plug it into a new monitor, which is a waste of calibration fluid. I would suggest just biting the bullet and ordering a new probe. Its less expensive than you think, and is better for your piece of mind.

american pinpoint or milwaukee calibration fluids 7.0 and 10.0 is what u need.

Hey, you can come by my place if you want. I have actually 2 spare pinpoint marine pH meters not in use. One controls outlets, one is just a pH reader. I also have a spare probe that is in good shape and currently being stored in liquid. I'll be around all day if you want to come by and troubleshoot
