hmmmm where the red stuff is growing i had a out break of the green algea for about a month or so..is this normal that it changes to the other colors???

no, it wouldnt change color.

can you pull some off and place it flat on a white background and get some good clear photos of it

I have this stuff growing in 1 small area of my sump. It feels slimy to the touch and comes off very easy if pulled which I do plenty of.

Hmmm...Couldn't say Brady, but I know someone pretty sharp who may and I'll send them a pm and see if he will chime in:)

Yes please. Rhodophytes are VERY hard to ID.

Crush some with your fingers. After doing this HIGHLY SCIENTIFIC test. :) Is it:

a) Hard and Crumbly
b) Soft and easily pulls apart

It looks like it could also be bearded seaweed which is a ROYAL PAIN because it can grow in low nutrient environments. http://www.mba.ac.uk/pmf/PMF_Sp_Anobar.htm

Regardless, I can't tell from the picture. A macro picture like Chris & Barb requested will help but it doesn't guarantee an ID.

marco algea,

I would leave it let it grow,

and harvest the hell outta it,

When i did my water change i cleand it all out for the most part. So no new pics. When i did pull it off it was very soft and easy to pull off of stuff. If that helps.
