Need Metal Halide help

i have two used aro ballasts and two used reflectors and i cant get my brand new bulbs to fire i was wondering how to wire them up i thougth it just went white to white and black to black and green to the case housing but nothing is happining please help.

the ballast are humming just a little bit i think they are on the light on the switch is on anyway

If you can get a multi meter and measure to see if you are getting voltage, that would be a start.

what brand of bulbs do you have? what wattage?

You might want to take some pics of the ballast, also there is a sticker usually on the ballast with information, we need that to really help or get the schematic.

it is a aro ballast 400w and there is just a mogul socket that i am having trouble wiring. is the black and white the only wires that matter because i just have the white and the black connected to the corrisponding wires from the pig tail comming out of ballast and the pig tail off the socket but the green ( iam guessing ground) is not connected to anything.
