so my led build is down the typhoon chip went out and don't have the money to replace it at the time what is a cheap temp fix. at the moment the tank is dark so i have to do something.

How did the chip go down, are you sure it isn't just a faulty connection. I would check the power and make sure that it is where it should be.

Do you have a multimeter, if so check the power in and make sure that it is good, if you are not using all four channels check to see if some of the others work.

If all else fails you can use the 10VDC power supply for the Typhon and wire is straight to the drivers. You will be running at 100% by doing that though.

yea i wont run at 100% we all know what will happen if i do that the chip is fryed. has been turning on and off now for some time. i open and separated the 2 chips and ther is evidence of a short on one of the boards.

You can also buy a variable output power supply at Radio Shack for about $15.
Then you can run at 3, 5, 7.5, 9, and 12 VDC. Or 30%, 50%, 75%, 90%, and burn your drivers up at 120%.

then i have to agree with trido. get any regulated power supply up to 9 volts since 10 volts is not easy to find. the key is the regulated part. you will need two to control blue and white separately.

hope this helps.

Actually if you connect the 10vdc in parallel you will be able to run only 1 wall wart for the 10vdc power for both drivers and still have separate control.

What control are you referring to Tat? What i meant was turning the blue first and then the white next automatically by a mechanical timer?

I am talking about the 10vdc that feeds the mechanical potentiometers, if you wire the two pots in parallel off of the one 10vdc wall wart, then you will have the 10vdc POTENTIAL across both pots for individual dimming circuits of drivers. The voltage is what is necessary for the dimming circuit, and amperage is not as important for dimming.
