Hello Kevin,

I think i've finally found a spot that my new clam seems to like, since it hasn't tried to move from it in a few days now. However, as of yesterday the mantle seemed to look a little odd. I thought I would give it one work day to see if it was a consequence of not liking its previous placement, but i did some google searches today to see if I could find anything similar. From what I was able to find, it would appear to possibly be "pinched mantle". I'm going to try to post an image below for your review.

If it is pinched mantle, is it correct that the best solution to cure the condition is 20-30 minute fresh water (ro/di with no salt) baths, rocking from side to side with occasional light blasts or water (waiting at least 2 days between treatment)? From what i was reading, the condition can be fatal, and if done improperly the solution can be equally fatal. I was hoping to get your input on if the condition was anything to worry about in the first place, and if so see if my describe "cure" above is correct? I sometimes fear what I find rummaging through the web, so i thought it best to come straight to the pros since you've always had excellent advice.

This would be my first picture upload, so if I botch the job I may have to come back and edit it somewhat, but will do the best I can to get a clear image.

Hello,
The picture was a success :) . I do not believe it is pinched mantle. I've owned the clam for 6+ months and it was fine. I would keep an eye on it and make sure nothing is nipping at the mantle for a week or so. You can always bring it back if it worsens and I will keep it for a while. It is much easier to keep an eye on it when you're there all the time. Also there are no fish or inverts that will bother it in my tank.

Regards,
Kevin
