New Nano

Im setting up a new nano tank 20g Elos and want to put sand in the bottom but not a DSB. How much sand should I use 1" ?

Any input would be great

I have a 3gal nano with not even a 1/4" sand bed. I only wanted to have just enough to cover the bottom. Do you have anything that lives in the sand or would require a thicker sand bed?

Unless you plan on a animal that requires the sand you can go as little as you want, even sandless or bare bottom.

Jawfish and some wrasse need a nice sand bed.

I like the look of sand is why I'm using it. As for live stock I would like to add a sand goby, maybe a star fish of some type, hermit crabs and snails.

i would say most of what you are adding uses sand. I would start with a 1/2 to 3/4 inch bed and see how it goes.
