Just wanted to let everyone know how excited we are about some new skimmers we are carrying. We now have Sequence Reef Flo Orca 200's and 250's as well as the new Premium Octopus Skimmers. The Reef Flo Orcas are massive, well built units that are driven by Sequence Darts with a Pin Weel. They are external recirculating units. Our prices match anything you will find on the net. The new Octopus Skimmers feature a bubble plate and direct injection which has increased the amount of air being injected. Mark can also mesh mod the Octopus Pump and make it a true beast. Check out the pics of Mark's Mesh Modded Octopus Premium Internal 150. Also pictured is the Reef Flo Orca 200...yep...thats the smaller of the two. Our first batch of both of these units sold out in 2 days and we are currently waiting for more. If you're interested let us know. I'll let Mark (skimmy) post more info, specs, pics, opinions, etc since he's the skimmer god.
Finally, we are very close to bringing Geo Calcium Reactors back in. Finally!! There are just a few details to iron out and then they should be on their way.

Are the octopus skimmers their Extreme Skimmer Line?

No, but we can get the Extremes. Our supplier doesn't want to deal with the customer service issues related to the aftermarket mesh modded Sicce Pump they use. As a result we have to use another supplier and we are still waiting for pricing.

and actually those pics, the amount of skimmate is what it collected in 18hours in it's stock configuration, the pics are of immediately after the mesh mod.
which i later had to take off because it overpowered the skimmer, im going to have to try one layer of mesh instead of 2. this thing is really awesome right out of the box, a huge improvement over the old octopus skimmer design.
the ps-150 internal (pictured above) gets 450lph of air draw stock, at a cost of $220, the euroreef rs-80 is $260 and it only gets 420 lph of air.
and imo the new octo design is much better than the euroreef...but i do like the sedra pump better than the octo pump. but for the cash, they totally rock!

Hey guys, very cool on the Orca! Can you get me a replacement NW pump for my old Octo? I have an OTP-2000 that has so completely seized that I cannot get the impeller assembly out of it. If so, how much? Or is there a good substitute?

Have you tried placing the pump in a Muratic acid solution it is incredible what it can do in minutes compared to vinegar wich won't entirely clean up without allot of elbow grease and multiple tries !!

Maybe Mark knows of a substitute. I'll let him respond to that. We can get the Octopus pump though. I'll have to call them wed when they reopen after holiday to get a price. I'll let you know then:)

I haven't tried the muriatic acid. We are able to get the shaft to turn a little bit, but it just won't pull out. I already have a replacement on the way, but I sure would like to use a better pump. In my discussions with Sherman, he has said there are subs, but that they won't be an exact fit.

Any info. passed along regarding that would be a great help.

well, you could use a better pump, but, your going to have to dremel and glue just to get anything else on there. was it on a nw-150?
if so, you could use a sedra 3500 or aquabee 2000/1

I couldn't find any AquaBee pumps readily available, and Sherman told me about the same, that it would not be an exact match. Since I have the replacement on the way, I am going to install that modded and then look for the best upgraded pump. Once I find that, I'll use the Octo as a spare. I hate to have my skimmer down. Luckily there's nothing in the grow-out tank right now.

If you come by for the January PSAS meeting, we get to discuss this. I can't remember if it's a 150 or 200.

still patiently waiting for my octopus skimmer order! looking at the orco makes me want my octo so bad!!!

hooked it up finally, had to do some replumbing. everything works great. thanks barrier reef.
but i have some technical questions for skimmerwhisperer.
this is the octo ps-ext 150. hey skimmerwhisperer, is it normal for the output tube 90 degree leaving out of the skimmer body joining to the standpipe to leak a little? its leaking a little where the standpipe meets the 90 degree joint, should i glue that piece together? also its making alot of gurgling sound on the output of the skimmer. i had to mod it by adding a maxijet 1200 on the output of the skimmer, because my sump is higher than the skimmer.
