so I currently have a 60 gallon FOWLR tank I received from My Fiance last Christmas (what an awesome present right???). the only real downside to the set up she got me, is that the stand, while looking very nice, has very little room for a sump/refugium underneath it. I have been throwing around the idea of getting a new stand that has ample room for a refugium underneath (I have a spare 30 gallon tank I am assuming would do the job).

the questions I have are:

1) how to convert my 30 gallon to a refugium (what equipment I need, good layout for it, how it should be piped to go back up and over the top of my tank)

2) does anyone have a good looking black stand for a 60 gallon tank?

3) What other advice could I use before embarking on this quest?

Thanks

This is the tank/stand. very small compartment with the two doors.

that is likely the solution. I am curious what to put in the sump and how to plumb it more than anything. I have a glass tank that is not drilled (and i'm not sure i'm ready to attempt something like that yet)

In the long run your going to want to have your tank drilled. Life will be easier and a bit more safe.
OBD is not to far away they can drill your tank if it is not tempered.
This is a great site for info on sumps.

If you are handy, and have the correct tools it would be best to build the stand the size you want it. It may be difficult to find the size you want.
Consider making room underneath to have a container for RO-DI.

i have seen peppie's work and he is 1 hell of a carpenter and the master of jigs i vote u have him build u a custom stand.

sounds like you got volunteered Peppie ;)

I'll shoot you a PM and pick your brain on what I should be looking to build.

thanks again everyone.

It appears so! There are a few craftsmen in this tight knit community that look out for each others given skills. Thanks Nick.

I will shoot you a phone # I would rather talk than type.

and when you have the tank drilled, I would recommend drilling for dual overflows.
