My new tank is finally up and running. As some of you know, my old tank cracked in the corner parts of the top eurobrace a while ago ... I now have a replacement tank (thanks to CFI). Thought I would share the process I went through today.

Here is a shot at the old tank emptied out early this morning ...

I threw the rock in a tub, I tried to pick out as much garbage (like bubble algae) that I could ...

I placed the fish and coral in two tubs such as this ... (oh and when replacing one of my clowns, it jumped just as it was going into the tank, landed behind the tank ... she seems to be okay though, I will be more comfortable in a couple of days) ...

This is essentially the room layout during this operation ...

A friend of mine helped me a bit today, here he is helping fill the new tank back up ...

Here it is half full with some of the rock back in it ...

And finally a couple of pictures of the finished product (with new 20k Ushie double ended bulbs installed) ...

BTW...Is your tank really a 75 gal or is your friend like 8ft tall? Your tank looks like a 30 gal next to him(LOL)

that's awesome Chuck !! :) i'm sorry to hear that your clownfish try to get out.
and not that i'm trying to get out of topic but that guy makes your tank look like if it was only 30/40 gal tank, i really like your lights!!

Chuck that is great that you got your swap out done. I hope this tank lasts much longer then the previous version. So is the guy who helped you out a reefer?

ahhh, that looks great chuck, you can sleep easy now

Yes I feel better having a tank taht is structurally sound again, although the other one patched up was probably good for a while.

i love the look of the 20 k's but don't they slow down the growth of the corals

Yep, it's all a matter of what you want out of the tank. Appealing colors with slower growth, or massive growth with different colorations that result from the different temperature bulbs.

The clown seems to be fine ... ate ferociously last night and is out and about with her mate today.

All in all, how long did the move take, and how much water did you save from the other tank?

I used about 30 gallons of fresh saltwater while using the rest from the tank that I drained. I started at 7:30am and the coral was in place with the lights on top around 12:30pm ... about a 5 hour job, not too bad.

Nope, not a reefer, just a friend from work that was willing to come buy and do some heavy lifting :)

Thanks for the replies Chuck. I think that was a really good time you made out with (5 hrs).

Before I forget Chuck, where's the top secret thingy that is supposed to make your corals grow faster? I've been waiting on the new setup to see where it goes and I don't see it anywhere...
