A buddy of mine has a Halide Lighting system and his coral has grown tremendusly. I want to get some halide lights too but am unsure as to what fixture to get. My tank is 48", 50 gal, and my budget is about $250-$300. I am new to salt water aquariums and have had this one for only a week. I have three different types of coral growing right now that seem to be doing ok, but i feel they will die soon if i dont get more light to them..

any suggestions on inexpensive intense lights?

thanks

Here is a link to Marine depot for their DIY halide components it is rather cheap this way, you need 2x 175 watt halides. and it is about 75 bucks for each ballast with socket this way (bulbs are about 70 ea aswell, so 2x$75= $150 for the balast's and 2x$70 =$140 for the bulbs then all you need is reflectors and some easing wiring done.. total should be about 300-350..

good luck!!!

Matt
