Just getting my 125g wet and upgraded to a Pan World PX-100x from my Iwaki 30-RLXT and for an extra 120 gph getting maybe twice the noise level. Thought I had read that they were one of the quieter pumps, have tried several different pads underneath plywood piece I mounted it to but still pretty loud. It seems the motor itself is noisy in comparison to the Iwaki not any vibration source I could find. Has anyone of you found this out as well or is my pump in need of servicing ???

Thanks in advance, Todd

looks like you already have a pad under the board now for a rubber mat for the pump between the pump and board did you buy it new??? mine came with a rubber footing !!! then screw the board to the stand should make it a little better

Yea I just did mine after about 3 years. Their are two bearings in the pump. One is in the very back and the other is just behind the wet end.

Thanks, yea holding it firmly down against stand floor makes it much quieter. Its not brand new out of box but looks to be barely used, picked it from Dang. Just not familiar with Pan World pumps.

Cheers, Todd

They are quieter than Iwaki though nearly identical, due to the lack of Iwaki's built in fan.
If yours is noisier, pump is malfunctioning or installation issues.
Try removing the plywood which could be resonating the sound like a guitar, and having it sit directly on a nice pad

+1

The thicker the pad, the better.
Plus, I've found that using hard pvc between the pump and the sump will create noise.
Flexable tubing on each side of the pump eliminates alot of noise.

Thanks guys, I'll try and find correct height bumpers to attach directly to pump or stack up some cheap mouse-pads. Martin, I do have spa-flex on either side of 90* coming out of sump and on either side of the manifold above check valve.

Cheers, Todd

We used a pad between our pump and its resting place made of expanding foam that was cured in a flat form for packaging. It's about 3/4" thick. I wouldn't imagine it would be all that difficult to make something like it yourself. We got ours out of a package that was mailed to us a while back. It completely silenced any vibration that was resonating through the stand.

Yes Mikey, your the man! Anyone want to buy a 5x9 Resonating Board. Thanks Eric, found some packing styro tp place under and ...hmmmm.... peace and quiet

Cheeers, Todd

also, the other thing that could be causing the vibration is the fact that you have 2 elbows on your pump input.
it should be a straight shot from bulkhead to pump.
always makes for a louder external pump.
