Help Support Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum:

Let me try to be a little more specific without being specific as to not break the agreement with the question.I'm considering placing an order with a non sponsor. I'd like to offer up something of a group buy type deal, in that shipping is excessively expensive, and there is a '100 pound minimum rate' (not dollars, pounds) that is going to apply to what would be about a 30 pound shipment. would posting that break the agreement?

We allow group buys in sponsor forums, I'm sorry, otherwise it would conflict with our sponsors. I hope you understand, If you know members here PM them and see if maybe you can do a group order like that? I understand the expense is high and your only trying to save money but we have to support the sponsors to keep the forum going.

Thanks for the response, and I totally understand. That's why I checked before posting. I've seen some forums allow it and some not, and I have no interest in breaking the rules. :)

Glad you understand and asked, I hate to put restrictions on the forum but we have some that are necessary, try the club forums also they may be a club near you that have members that you can get together.

I have breifly scanned the posts related to this one and would like to point out that as far as livestock in the salt water hobby it is very difficult to find anyone who will guarantee anything. this is for a very good reason in that there are too many variables to calculate when determanine responsibility for loss. very high costs associatied with keeping and distributing livestock and most of it is actuallty delicate and requires good knowledge, skills, and good equiptment to properly maintain.

a good example would be that most retailers have their generic acclimation procedures well documented. but in the end its up to the consumer to have the knowledge and experince to determine when its actually beneficial to deviate from this depending on any given situation and type of livestock. also, at the end of the day a retailer can have what looks like a completley healthy specimen....and in the end it just dies in shipping. last thing they want is an unhappy customer base and would not have shipped it if they had known otherwise.

its a tuff hobby! we are all crazy in various degrees!
