cheers, my friends

Just a casual mention here... but some of you may have noticed I have been a bit light on answering queries the early part of this year due to (wonderfully) heavy travel - visiting hobby clubs and events.

I am nearing crunch time for final writes (to begin a long and sometimes unpleasant editing and layout process ) for two new books I hope to release this year.

As I did in the past with BOCP1 (2001) and NMARI (2003), I need to lighten up on the volunteer time temporarily on the various message boards I frequent so that I can accomplish these tasks.

I will be checking in regularly indeed (weekly likely), but please forgive me if I am slower than usual at times to answer. Moreoever... let us take advantage of the wealth of knowledge in fellow mentors, mods and members of the site offer to answer queries and build constructive content for the archives.

wish me luck, please I do hope to come out of Hermitage (the state of recluse, not the town... that is to say ) with some new hobby content that fellow aquarists will find worthy!

with kind regards, Anthony Calfo

welcome aboard :)

whew... two down (mag issue 2 and anemone poster (#7 in series))... two to go (BOCP1ed2 and SHs) :)

So sorry for the haitus my friends... but the print deadlines are a doozy!

Declevis... thanks kindly for the inquiry. The first of two volumes of Reef Fishes is written. I completed it a while ago actually. Bob and I have enough images too to illustrate it heavily. But the root of the problem with all of these hobby titles is that they are so expensive to produce and pay so very little. We just can't afford to print many titles while the others need to stay in circulation and get reprinted.

For me, doing the Reef Series posters, my book reprints and (self)funding the new magazine and illustrated Coral Prop book gobbled all of my funds and then some with the reprints in the last 2 years.

I'm tempted to release my reef fishes coverage in smaller family themed booklets so it is more affordable (for me and the buyers) to buy/produce. This works very well in Europe, but we'll see here in the States. The seahorse and shark book will be a bit of a test soon :)

kindly, Anth-

thanks for the info Anthony....i really like the idea of family specific books. i absolutly love Kuiter's marine fish families books. soooo, if you guys do decide to go that route you have my explict support. would yours be more invert inclined?? because i think that has been something dearly needed in the hobby for some time now. well, thanks again for all you've done and i do look forward to any of the new publications.
