I know, pics will come when I get home, but I just re-did the layout of my rockwork last night. Seems that moving things around has awoken some nudi's from their slumber. Noticed a few of them on the front glass of the tank. They're really small, but from my first google'ing this am, seems to look exactly fit the look of a Berghi. Clear body line with clear/white body trailing white feather looking protrusions - looks like this:

Ok my questions - are there bad nudi's that mimic the look? Should I remove them?

I'll get a real pic when I get home this afternoon. They are prob 1/4" or less.

Yeah, that's kinda the synopsis I got when google'ing. I'm a good 90% or more sure that is exactly what they look like. It's just weird that out of the blue they are out and about. Tank has been up a few months now.

Have you ever introduced Berghia Nudibranch into your system? It's very rare that they'd come in as a hitchhiker. Google Montipora Eating Nudibranch, which do look similar, but you can definitely tell them apart.

If you do have Berghia Nudis, they could be "out and about" because they're hungry. You can tell, from their color. Most Nudis take on the color of their food. Berghia will be gray/tan, when feeding and turn white, when starving. If white, it's important to get them Aiptasia, or they'll quickly die.

I'll have to see, as those Montipora Eating Nudibranch are really close looking. I've not introduced any as of yet. And if they are Berghi, I may have to get them out and trade/sell to those in need as I do not have any Aiptasia in my tank.

If it is the badies - whats the course of action on this? Dip the 1 monti i have and try and setup a bucket qt for a week or so?

I'm thinking unless you added beghia nudibranchs, that it would be a long shot that they would be berghias.
I have seen several nudi's that look similar, but came in on leather corals.
Monti eating nudis I had were white, but very tiny. Maybe less than 1/8".

This would be a good question for LeslieH

As we all know, it is common to get aptasia on live rocks, so why not aptasia eating nudi's?

Seems more likely that aptaisa eaters would be on a rock than monti eaters.

Maybe berghia are so effecient that if they hit a rock, there will be no aptasia left, and they will move on or die in transport with no food supply? Maybe they just need to evolve a way to hide out and hybernate.....

You may send a message to Crazyfish253. Hes worked with berghia a lot.

IMO, I wouldn't trust any nudi you find in the system that you didn't put in there. Most can be very destructive and hard to rid

Looking at the photos you posted, I'm pretty sure those are Monti Eating Nudis. Look at the cerata. You can tell the difference in the amount of cerata and the spacing between each cerata. Berghia cerata are solid. MEN cerata are each kind of "frilly." Also, the head looks different. MEN have a more "blocky" head, which seems to be showing, in the photos you posted.

Plus one for Sid. The first pic you posted dose not look anything like the second ones. 2nd group of photos is monti munching nudi

alrighty, thanks for the updates, I'll start the process of removing those I find and the 2 pieces of monti's I have. Hopefully can starve them out. Do you recomment CoralRx to rinse the pieces?
