We've moved from one side of town to the other! This month's SPCDA meeting will be at Chelsie & Luke's new place in Cheney! They've got a newly re-established 150 gallon tank which is just beginning to teem with new life...
SPCDAReefs October Meeting -
When: Saturday, October 8 at 7 PM
Where: Chelsie & Luke's House - Cheney, WA
Since we will be so dangerously close to our local center for edification - what better topic to discuss than marine biology!! Specifically, we'd like to call our discussion topic this month Fun With Microscopes!!
Basically - we will bring in a bunch of fun things from our tanks to look at on slides under a microscope. Briefly discuss what they are, how to ID them (without a microscope) and what benefits/harm they cause our tanks, and also discuss the treatment and identification of gram negative and gram positive bacteria infections on fish. It should be a nerdy and fun hands on meeting for all!!
A few items we will be looking at include:
- Planaria Flatworms
- Bubble Algae Spores
- Bryopsis, Hair Algae, etc
- Pods (isopods, etc,) if we can catch them! haha
Along with our meeting, we are working hard to get new raffle items in place and organize new group buys for club members. We have added a new section to our club forum that focuses just on group buys to help make facilitating and organizing them better for all involved. Group Buy Information
We are in the midst of organizing a group buy from Les at Wet Pets Hawaii in the next few months, and will likely have many more in the future. Check our site often for updates on group buys, and new raffle items from one of our wonderful club sponsors!
Hope to see you at the meeting :flypig: :flypig:
