October 2012 Club Meeting: South Sound Tank Tour
October 20th from 1:00-4:00 PM

We will meet up initially at:
6508 156th Street Court East
Puyallup Wa, 98375

Between: 12:00 and 12:50!

We'll be having some pizza at Devin's house for an hour or so before we head out. We'll have a chance to catch up, introduce ourselves to new members, and check out his growing collection of aquariums.
Past PSAS Tank Tours

We will have to keep a pretty tight schedule if we hope to see all the great systems in the amount of time we have for the meeting. Sorry it has to be so structured, but out of respect for the people who are opening their homes to us, we need to let them know when we'll be there. We'll have 30 min at each place to enjoy the tank(s) before we move on.

Here's the schedule:

Devin's : 12:00 -12:50 (We will be leaving at 12:50 to keep on schedule. Addresses for the destinations will be given out as we leave, but no information will be posted online to respect people's privacy. What does this mean? Don't be late for the train.)
Travel to reefman069 : 10 min
reefman069 : 1:00 - 1:30
Travel to EWW : 10 min
EWW : 1:40 - 2:10
Travel to Nata : 20 min
Nata : 2:30 - 3:00
Travel to Penny's Salsa : 20 min
Penny's Salsa : 3:20 - 3:50
4:00 - Return to Devin's if you carpooled or head home.

You can view the thread for this meeting on thePSAS.org here

Just to be clear, there is no charge to attend this event. It is open to everyone. It's a great chance to see tanks that far exceed public aquariums in health and beauty.

Disclaimer: Many PSAS events are instructional in nature, but we are NOT certified electricians, plumbers, or experts in marine biology. Please consult a qualified electrician before doing electrical work on your house and tanks. Your safety and the health of your aquarium inhabitants is our primary concern. All events are subject to a change in time or in location in the event of extenuating circumstances. We will do our very best to update the site to reflect any changes in venue or time.

Yep I'm coming from the north so I can meet more people and there tanks to see what they are doing to keep and grow corals so well.

Charlypooh - We're working on getting pictures to a 700 gal system that will be the final stop on the tour. I haven't seen a build thread or anything on the system. It's going to be a really fun day.

Norahs_dad - We're planning the Nov meeting up North in Seattle are right now. More to come on that. You won't have to drive very far. The January meeting is going to be right next door to you if our plans work out. Also the location for the Bob Moore frag swap in February was finalized yesterday.

This should be fun ppl! Im excited to see a couple tanks i havent before, and some i have.

Update: We have modified the first posting to reflect the latest info about the meeting. Please notice that we're meeting up BEFORE 12:50 and leaving at that time. If you don't make it to the starting location, you won't be able to catch up with the tour because we aren't posting the personal information for the homes we will be visiting. Come early, eat some pizza, and expect to see some INCREDIBLE systems!

. Thank you to all that came by Penny's Salsa. Was a lot of fun to show a system I would so hard on. Wish I could have share my tanks at home to. Maybe next time. Mahalo Mike

A huge tank you to every person that made the tour possible, for opening up your homes (or business :) ) to let us see what you've worked so hard to make a reality.

We met at Devin's for some pizza ahead of time. It was good to meet Chris, and I got to brag about the new RO/DI system that Air Water Ice sent us. It will be given away some time in the next few months. I also got to hand out some fliers they sent us for a 10% discount on their RO/DI systems. (enter code: 13586)

Here are a few brief pictures of Devin's systems:

Here is Reefman's tank. I can't explain how awesome this tank is in person. The corals have an unnaturally vibrant color. Incredible.

We stopped at EWW's place next. Their tank continues to be incredible. They'll be moving to the store (Oceans by Design) before too long. We'll need some volunteers to help move it when the time comes. They showed us some of their new LED fixtures. They're going to be flying off the shelves when the store opens up. They're already selling them through their site if you're in the market.

Nata's wonderland! Not only are her tanks stunning, but the room she has dedicated to the two tanks are incredible. Red curtains with walls that have been painted to make it look like a castle and fish-themed paintings on the walls and ceiling. I wish I could catch the depth of rockwork and the color of the corals. These don't do her tanks justice.

Mike has been doing the maintenance on these tanks at Penny's Salsa. His babies. This is a 700 gallon system that is just stunning. The corals are so mature and full. I haven't seen a real reef in person, but this is what I imagine it must look like. The salsa is also worth the drive! Mango Peach salsa.
