I originally had 6 of these fish at the store but over the last 4 months or I sold them off except the last 2. They have paired up and I noticed yesterday that the male is holding eggs! I hope the babies will hatch and I will be able to get some pictures. They are in their own tank so maybe I will be able to raise a few of them. We'll see. I have raised Bangaii cardinals a few years ago.
The male is the one with the jaw protruding downward.

Regards,
Kevin

Those are beautiful pictures Kevin. Are these reef safe fish and could they be kept with Bangaii cardinals in a reef tank? I saw these listed on your specials a week ago and was wondering what they are. What do you normally sell these for?

Dave

They are a small, peaceful, and reef safe. They are $12.99 ea. These two are not for sale right now though :) but they are usually available from my supplier.

Kevin

Your teasing me......Cut that out... Quote from Kevin "They are $12.99 ea. These two are not for sale right now though ". You awnry Buger. Looking at the picture in here two fish, Can you put a baseball cap on him or a bow on the female to tell the difference. The male has a petruding jaw because the female got the charge card again.

I need some coffeee....

Very neat, Kevin!

Got my fingers crossed for babies. :)

In both pix, I believe the male is the lower of the two fish. Hence the rounding of the jaw. That's how my male peacock(cichlid) use to look when carrying eggs and/or babies in it's mouth.

what are the chances of bringing a couple of them along to the richland conference :) Then I could bring them home with me.....not your spawing pair?

Hi Ed,
I think there are 3 main factors:

Water quality.
Habitat (they must feel secure)
Diet

I have raised Bangaii cardinalfish in the past and these were the things I focused on.

Regards,
Kevin

Kevin,
What type of habitat do they feel secure with? Are you feeding them the combination food as before?
Ed

Ed,
Ones where they don't feel threatend from other fish/animals. Yes I use my mix.

Schottman,
I will be coming down on Friday so I'm not sure that will work.

Regards,
Kevin
