orange plate coral splitting

So I have a plate coral that I got from Barrier at a previous sale. It has done well in the year or so that I have had it and recently I noticed two splits in the sides that ran through the mouth. Well this has not made it's way all the way through the coral and it seems ready to split in two. After doing a little research it seems this is a little rare but normal! Has anyone had this happen before?

Haven't seen it but that's pretty cool. I just read an article that said you can frag them by cutting them with a Dremmel but I'm not that brave.

My hairy mushroom did that last week. I know that it is two different things but still similar. The one that I had split three ways. I thought that it was dying.

This isn't something I would try on my own. Now i just have to keep it healthy long enough for it to heal
