What would be better skimmer to get? I have the option to buy a brand new PS-3000 Pacific Coast rated for 400 Gallons or would you pick a used ASM G-3? I believe the G-3 is rated for ~250Gallon

However, the rating the pacific coast skimmer is way off. I wouldn't do more than 100 gallons SPS with that skimmer.

Also check the Super Reef Octopuss line of skimmers. I have the SRO 5000 external. 90 SCFH, no DIY, pump always starts, virtually silent and it has fail safe design that shuts down skimmer production if it fills your waste bucket.

well I can get both for around $200 which is all I can afford right now unfortunately

Then I would save the extra money and get the extreme. I have one and they REALLY rock! How large is your tank?
