Painting PVC....?

i want to paint my closed loop setup black in my 32g rimless but cant figure out how to do it ive tried sanding the gloss coating off of the PVC and painting it with black plastic spray paint but that doesnt seem to be working so anyone have any idea on how to do this? ive seen it done but cant figure out how...

Clean with acetone, primer then paint.

What brand plastic paint did you use?

Krylon fusion seems to be what most use to paint plastic and even glass. Supposed to stick pretty well. Never used it myself, but is what I will try when the time comes.
 
Will this be going inside your tank? I'm not sure I would risk adding something thats been painted to my tank.
