After screwing around with the back round that I put on my tank i'm going to scrap it and paint it. Is there any kind of paint i should use or just goto wally world and roll it on since I can't spray it on.

I went to wally world also. Found a pint of some color. On the used shelf. nd just had them make it black. :)
Was like 6 dollars. And I used a little 3 inch roller I had to roll on a few coats on the outside of the glass.
Worked perfect.
Good luck.

A foam roller and as many light coats as you feel is needed. IMO 4-5

Oh, BTW I would go with a cheap latex.

The reason I suggested latex is it is not as toxic ( fumes ) as an oil base. I assumed the tank is up and running

Latex may not be very sticky on glass, but I think it has been used with satisfactory results by many.

i used roll on rustoleum ultra cover black paint that oceans by design's eric gave me. took like 10 coats till i couldn't see a flashlight through the pane of glass. i also painted the bottom.
