I got a small partner for my existing lone ocellaris (therefore presumably female). There are absolutely no aggression after the new fish is added to my surprise, I was expecting the new guy to be beat up for a couple days by the dominant female.

Is peaceful co-existant from the very beginning a good sign? How can I tell when they are paired?

Thanks.

How big is your original perc? They have to get a certain size before "the change." You may still have two juvenile males. You can tell when they're paired when they start squabbling, lol.

My original one is not small, about 2" long I think. It certainly is no smaller than the females in the advertised "mated pair" in Blue Sierra. It is the most aggressive fish I have in my tank.

The new guy is pretty small on the other hand. Maybe that's why he's being tolerated :)
