par38 or DIY led

im trying to figure out which way i should go. just order 2 par38's or buy a 12led DIY kit.
Im trying to light a foot of tank on each side. i have a 6' tank with a 4' light centered.
will 6 leds be enough on each side?

IMO would go with one of the kits from rapidled.com as below then add a couple small pre-drilled heatsinks (bottom link).

I would think so using the 60* lenses. If you contact them you can change the blue/white LED ratio to suit your color preference also. If you have or are going to get a controller get the dimable driver kit and you'll be able to ramp up/down the LED's for a really nice dawn/dusk effect.
