I got a couple of peppermint shrimp about 2 weeks ago. I thought they had died because I couldnt find them anywhere in my tank. I even took some of the LR out to try to find them. Last night however I saw one of them crawling around and I was like  ...

first of all.. what do they eat besides Aiptasia? Algae maybe? Because I havent been feeding them brine shrimp..

second.. Do they only come out at night?

You will only see them at night usually...and dont count on it every night either :p. Sometimes i wont see mine for weeks. And for feeding, just do your normal fish feeding and they will anything else they get ahold of, hense the "clean-up crew"

good luck

they usually hang out upside down on the under side of rocks, which is why its hard to see them.

yeah.. thats the only way I see him.. upside down..

the reason I ask what I should feed them, is because I've been told by several people that they only will eat aiptasia and brine shrimp..

thanks
Brandon

No they like almost any kind of food that falls in the tank. I have a 20 gallon tank. After a week or two I started to see my pep daily.

Mine will eat whatever they can get their pinchers around! :D
One time I forgot to fully thaw a frozen formula1 food cube--and it landed right in front of the shrimp's den--he pulled that whole cube in! (with ant-like strength  )
I'm sure he didn't eat it ALL at once, but I doubt he shared any with the pep at the other end of the tank....

I had 2 in my 55 gallon and they went nuts for some small pellets (they were from my fresh water tank for the bottom feeding algae eaters) I could almost get them to grab it out of my hand---almost :)

my attack/cleans my hand when my hand is in the tank

they are very fast agressive (when eating) twards others in the tank....

i would not recommend feeding them...

they are hardy and will clean well... If you noticed them looking like a twig maybe throw a peace of meat for em

Thats good to know.. Cause I was thinking that I was starving them:|

Peppermint shrimp are pretty fun to watch.. I think its because they seem so stupid..:D

i beg to differ...

build a trap for em, and watch how they figer out how to get in....

(maybe not geting out) but HAHAHA

Make good cleaners
