I have 7 peppermint shrimp who are all taking the legs off my sand sifting starfish. My sand is pretty dirty with alage and I was hoping for the stars to sort that out. Will my shrimp continue to eat these stars and is it worth tkaing them out becuase of it? Also what else cleans sand well?

When i did have sand in my tank I would by Nassarius vibex snails. They borrow into the sand and keep the upper layers pretty clean. I had this in a 20 gallon tank and would use about 15-20 of them. They don't grow very large. HTH

the nassarius snails are carnvoirs. i had meny die off to an exceptbul # that suited the tanks needs and domaneds.

7 peppermints?! sounds like if you dont want a riot in your tank you might have to target feed them.

my 2 run a muck in the tank. i cant dream of 7, that must be a hard core tank.

what are you spec's?
