MyPh is suddenly plumetting to 7.8 and no MATTER HOW MUCH BUFFER I PUT IN IT IT Changes but the next DAY IT DROPS...............It is Terribly annoyingANy Ideas ON How to FIx It I am Using Sea Chem Buffer liquid, but used powder once.................................................................

Looking at your gallery, it appears this tank is pretty darn new? Is it the 55g? What livestock do you have in it right now? And how exactly do you know it has "a bunch of oxygen" in it?

I angled the output thing on the filter up so it pushes air down and there is a column of mini bubbles, It used to just shoot bubbles and they looked like a fne mist but it was re-angled so it might help.I have 2 Blue Damsels, 1 good sized turbo snail, 2 baby turbos that happened to be on the live rock and come out all the time, and 3 scarlett hermit crabs. A little branch I have covered in at least 8 or more feather duster worms. I have had the tank set up since Christmas. Just four weeks ago the Ph went outta whack.

Nope I don't have any sort of reactor would it help it? The things aI want to get for my tank have to have a Ph of 8.0. So I can't get anything until it levels up to 8.0 again...

I don't think you have much issues, I don't know anything that has to have a PH of 8, you should be fine. If you want it to increase try to open up a window in that room.

it is dreadfully cold out. so the I should open a window in summer? Also would one of the little ph monitors i've seen at petco work as well? YES,

I've seen ph change just from fresh air entering the house, point is right now I don't think you have much issues with it to really worry, I think you'll be fine to keep what you want. If you continue adding buffers like that you may actually throw our system out of balance, have you tested your Alk & Ca lately?

so it would be fine to get gobies then? so...... I don't have a ca test or a alk :( should I get one????? how long have u been a reefer????
:D

If you have corals in a system, then YES a Calcium and Alk test are mandatory.

I test weekly on my system and after every water change (which is every 2 wks). I know that I will have to buffer my Ca as I use IO salt which is usually low on the Ca side.

You should be plenty fine for gobies. I didn't see If you had a skimmer or not but a skimmer would really help with aeration & gas exchange. If your not keeping corals then I wouldn't suggest these extra test kits & isn't necessary, do you have corals?
I asked because your adding buffer & If continually done I'd be concerned what the long term affects would be. Another I don't see much LR, how much do you have? What are you using for salt & how much & often are you changing water? The more information the better help we can give.

Ph

Found Out what the problem was. The last stop was always the marine pet store and over that time the water became oxygen defficient. This time the marine store was first. Aeration has complete control of the Ph. I just got 20 blue hermit crabs and some base rock.

eliterecon,

so what are you doing to provide for aeration and gas exchange???
