PH dropped all the way to 7.4?

I was using my test kit today to check my PH since I started my kalk drip. The PH is all the way down to 7.4-7.5. This is not what I expected at al. Prior to the Kalk Drip I have always had 8.4 rock solid.

I don't have any Macro in the sump yet. (need to find some) Otherwise I'm not sure what is going on....

Suggestions?

that's odd, kalk drip usually raises PH levels. are you sure you are using correct or good test kits?

Yeah that is really odd Kalk has a PH of 11-12 so it should raise rather than decreasing. You might have a bad test kit or something.

I'd also suggest that your test kit is probably bad. However, look at other causes too. Has anything that oxygenates tank changed? Skimmer working fine?

From my latest tragedy, any sign of a drop in pH would terrify me, until I figured it out!!

Skimmer is actually working better than ever. I'm still fighting microbubbles from somewhere in the return. I added a buffer until I get home but a small amount far less than the reccomended dosage in case the test kit is wrong. I plan on picking up an elos kit to replace my current one.

I also increased flow and the surface agitation is a lot higher than it used to be. Not sure if that would have an effect

Wwell I just talked to lisa. She did a test for me and everything is back at 8.4. That leads me to believe it was a bad test. Ill be monitoring closely for the next few days.
