I was planning to buy it soon. Just to check it and not for a calcium reactor. I get lazy testing for PH. That's one less test to worry about. Saves me 2 to 3 minutes of my time. If test PH everyday for one year I would save 730 minutes a year coming out to be about 12 hours and 17 minutes. Tada!
Also I like the looks of the monitor. Looks bad azz! Go buy it dawg!

I've been using the Hanna PHep5 for a couple months now for the same lazy reason. Its a little quirky at times. It would appear that when the temp is in a certain range the PH reading will jump around drastically. For example a temp of 77.6 will show PH around 8.2, but a temp of 77.8 will show a PH of anywhere from 7 to 8.9 and when the temp settles around 78.0 the PH is back to 8.2 and steady. I've since ordered up a 7.01 and a 10.01 buffer to calibrated the device again.

Yo guy......welcome to Reef Frontier!

Thanks. I've been sponging info from everyone here for a couple years now, Thanks to Everyone, and I figured its time to share what I've learned. Even if its how to be more lazy :)

The buffers should be here tonight, so I'll post the results of the calibration as soon as I can.

So. Do you guys think that the PH monitor is not necessary?... I can spent this money in others things more important for the good heath of my tank.
By the way I don’t have calcium reactor…. But I would to have one. My Ca is now 350…. And I put kalwasser every f… day…
Take care

Just buy it if your lazy to test your PH. I know I'm going to. My PH likes to go down sometimes and I always have to end up putting in Marine Buffer to keep my PH at 8.3. I think my PH will be better now cause I just bought a stronger powerhead. Keeps that good air flow for PH? Am I right on that anyone? The more current the steady the PH is? Has something to do with oxygen or something? Someone told me that? Maybe someone else can explain.

I received the buffers and calibrated the meter last night. The readings seemed more stable while the Temp adjusted, but there is still a few spots in the temperature range that the PH jumps around radically. This isn't a problem for me as I usually leave the meter in the water for about 5 minutes, but I did want to bring it up in case someone did care and or could explain better than I why this is.

If I wanted to spend the money again, I'd buy the American Marine Pinpoint PH meter.

just my 2¢
