I was wondering what is the most commonly used reliable Brand of phosphate media does most people use? I'm setting up a phosban and just trying to get some idea on what Phosphate media to purchase. TIA, Sarang

ive heard that ROWA phos is a good one that is what i went ahead and bought...not sure on any other brand but seems to work really good ive been useing it for about 3 weeks or so got rid of most of my hair algae :D the rest is slowly going away.

Just kidding..... I have used seachem phosgaurd. Seemed to work OK it takes allot if you have a large tank.

my opinion i like the rowaphos if you can afford it. but the tlf brand is good. just make sure you dose the recommend amount and bleed the effluent into a bucket before putting inline with your system. i lost some sps from the dust when i first used a reactor. good luck

Sorry the question should be should I get the granular or pellets or high capacity?

Well, I have the H.C. right now, it is like coffee grinds but slightly bigger, I plan on going with the pellets just for easy of use & less mess. Twice as much needed but about the same cost regardless so I'll give it a try.

I used Seachem & had issues with some corals, I thought It was going to kill my trumpets, It is aluminum based & probably leaches some into the water after a while. Boomer has some more information on that in his forum.

I do 10g water change on my 40b every sunday. I just feed heavily just feel bad for my fish.

Did you get tha nasty thing cleaned out already? Pretty much any GFO in the hobby is fine. One thing to keep in mind is to go REAL slow. Use about a 1/3 of the dosage and work your way up over a long period of time.

DonW,

Does your advice to take it slow pertinent to FOWLR or only reef tanks with corals?
