im in the process of lowering my phosphates.i bought some "phoslock" some stuff that I put in a micro fiber bag and put it in the sump.any suggestions??

Do you mean a process for lowering phosphates using the phoslock or phosphates in general?? 
If in general, best thing would be to do some water changes using ro/di water (to dilute them) and also finding the source of the excess phosphates and addressing it. As for the phoslock, never used the stuff before so couldn't say, but if it is anything like the Julian Sprung's phosban media, you want slow flow passing through it for it to be effective
