Pics of my new tank

I figured I would create a little thread on our new tank. I purchased the tank and equipment from an old member on the forum. The tank is a little under 1000 gallons. The dimensions are 10'x4'x3'

the stand is made from 4x6, 2x6, and 3/4" plywood with 6" lag bolts and 4" deck screws

I lined the top of the stand with 1" foam

getting the tank in the house was a royal pia.

I had to remove the door to get it in. Oh and bring 10 friends to help. Finally we got the tank on the stand

and here is where we are at so far

Yeah, once the tank was unloaded the truck and trailer had to be pulled out with a Tahoe

the tank is set at standard bar height, so the idea is to attach a counter to it and sort of build the tank into the wall, with some shelving for kind of a fish tank/ bar/ man cave theme. I was originally planing in wrapping the tank in dark wood, but I think Iam leaning more towards sheetrock now. it will be much quicker and cheaper, allowing me to be entertaining in no time. the plan is to have the kegerator and flat screen on the opposing wall. I'm thinking Super bowl party, but I'm not sure it will be done yet.

That is ALOT of weight for strictly mechanical fasteners.
IMO you should add some load bearing support
How long can you go before you have to clean your coral?

the lights are pretty dim so i can get away with out cleaning for a long time. UV and a huge skimmer help alot too. I'll brush them off every few months and maybe take them out and bleach once or twice a year. I am however considering better lighting options so that might increase. the color of the fish don't pop quite as much as I think they should

As long as there is no earthquake, the posts are probably fine. I agree though, a few diagonal struts would ensure it didn't twist nor sway. Many tank stands failed in the last big Oly earthquake.

Mike, I have some 3/4" plywood I was thinking about sheeting it all with. I think that should stiffen it up pretty well

With enough non-brittle screws, should do the job

sorry Mike I didn't notice your question, yes this is a fish only. It allows us to have alot more of the fish we would love to have but normally can't because they nip at corals. I still have a 29 cube that will be mainly zoa's probably, but that will be a lot less work

not so good. my ringtail tang beat them up pretty good. I have them in separate tanks at the moment healing up.

Well... That sucks. Hope it isn't too bad. Try using an acclimation box next time... You can make a large one out of egg crate and zip ties. Toss some PVC in there to help them feel comfortable. Make sure the lights stay off too...
