Pink Bar Goby question

Anybody know how to get a pink bar goby to come out from under the rocks and join the rest of his tank mates? Is that normal for them to stay under there all of the time. He pokes out far enough to eat and then backs up, under the rocks.

Yeah, I'm thinking of picking one up to see if they will pair.
