I have a 130 gl reef tank and plan to purchase a pipefish. Any suggestion on type and how to take care the fish.

Thanks
KC

To the best of my knowledge, pipefish come from very slow to stagnant water (similar to seahorses). I think there is a lot of misinformation on the web about these creatures right now because of peoples belief that they eat red acro bugs. I'd definitely do a lot of research before putting them into a reef.

Here's a good article on husbadry that indicates they have very similar requirements to seahorses...http://www.utahreefs.com/articles/Pipefish_final.pdf

They are a very hard fish to keep, much harder then seahorses. They are very slow so you have to keep the tak pred free and safe. Bio type tank would be the best. They feed by sucking in thier food, so slow current or they will starve, and that is if you can get them to eat in the first place.

It is a cool looking fish but difficult to keep in reef tank, so I decide not to buy one.

Thanks all.
