pistol shrimp

I was hoping some one may be able to identify this shrimp for me? Thanks.

I dont know but is that a dab of cocktail sauce on him?

no - no cocktail sauce, it does have two fairly symmetrical reddish dots, one on each side. Most of the body is a very light whitish gray and the claws are a lavender color. over all size is about 1 1/4 inch. I don't think my watchman goby would like it if I cooked his roommate, er.. burrowmate( is that a word? ) .

I've never seen that one before. Pretty cool looking though. Are you going to add him to your tank or are you waiting on an ID?

That's a bullseye pistol (Alpheus soror). Obviously the common name comes from having spots that looks like the bullseyes.

Thanks on the ID. Alpheus soror looks right on. the spot colors are not as bluish as listed on some references but the rest fits right in. He's in the tank now, he has already moved in with the watchman. This shrimp isn't noted for pairing up with a goby but it seems he missed that chapter. Thanks again for the help.
