I have finaly started plumbing the new tank, yay:D. I have a quick question, The bottom of the corner weir is drilled for a 1-1/2 return to sump. I have put a T piece ontop of the return pipe in the weir and installed 2x 1-1/2 strainers. With me so far? Due to the depth of the tank 40inches, i have had to raise up the T piece with the strainers 2 feet so i can reach in and remove them for cleaning. The question is, will it matter that the T piece is this far up the weir as there will be 2 feet of water constantly in the weir that i can't drain?
I dont see an issue personaly but you guys and girls have far more experiance than me.

Sounds like you have it setup right pitkat. The water in the wier will be changed out constantly from water entering it. so no worries there.

You may see small feather dusters and algae build up in there over time. As long as your water parameters are checking in ok then I would not worry about that. The dusters are filter feeders and only contribute. The algae on the other hand could be trouble over time. So keep an eye on it.
