Pom Pom Xenia

Well, my xenia is doing good, its about 3/4 in big. I was wondering, how long will it be untill it gets huge? It isnt branching out much, its on like a single layer, when It grows will it start getting branches? I have the fiji pink pom pom xenia, if that helps. I just cant wait till it gets huge!!!

How long have you had the coral? Give it some time, and you will notice nice growth. Can you tell us a little about your set-up?

Sure, I have kenya tree coral, that one xenia, 6 line wrasse, 1 percula Clown, 1 Brown Saddleback Clown, one sailfin tang, 1 green carpet anemone, orange tube anemone, few damsels, and a pink spotted goby. The Tank is about 1 year old, Its a 55gal, I have 550watts of light under the hood, 4-110watt VHO's and 2-55watt PC's.

Heres a really recent pic of my xenia (Took Pic Like 20mins ago) dont mind the whiteness on the stalks, my camera had flash on when it took that picture, so its kind of a reflection

give it a few months and it will really take off....then you will probably wish you didn't put it in your tank. just keep it isolated on a rock of it's own. mine grows like crazy now and i have to trim it constantly. i learned to keep it on it's own rock without it being able to touch another rock.

when you trim it also make sure to get all the pieces. i had a single polyp float free and it landed on a back rock. well within a month it was a huge stalk and has spread to another rock.

LOL, doh!! If that happend I would be like "Sweet! More xenia to trade in for store credit!" I want to get alot of xenia, and trade for zoo's, I really missed the zoos I used to have, but one of my fish ate them and so did a snail, so I got rid of 'em and hopefully, I can grow zoo's with success!

I think it also true that pom pom doesnt grow as fast as thin bar xenia. I had silver thin bar coming out my ears. My pom pom really never grew too much.
