I have the opportunity to get my hands on an above ground pool filter and pump for free and I was wondering if anyone has ever converted a pool filter into a tank filter.

The filter is a fiber or canister like filter not a sand filter.

Just curious on feasibility and whether it would even be worth considering.

Thanks!

canister filters are nitrate factory. ok for fowlr tank but not so good for a full coral reef. get a bio pellet reactor and a gfo reactor and never look back, yea yea

I also done this once but never get satisfactory results. because the pool filter is made for high flow rate for swimming pool and mostly the tanks are small so a biggest reason for failing is high pressure. Then I think I also done some mistakes in installation. Anyhow but after I replaced that with a aquarium filter.
