SWC Xtreme 300 Protein Skimmer

or SWC Xtreme Cone Protein Skimmer 250 S2

Hadnt really thought about cost, just wanna make sure I'm a little over skimmed and not under. I really think skimming is the key especially for longer standing reefs.

your a very smart man...:)

so, 350g total volume @ 600lph air injection per 100g = 2100lph air injection,
and i would definately look at some of the newer cone style skimmer bodies, with low watt/high power pumps that has a good power factor and air to water ratio, so these would be the most appropriate skimmer choices;

i say go with the Xtreme Cone 250s2.It got a good review on RC.

Those vertex skimmers are crazy good though but you can see that in the price.

that skimmer is actually the most power for the least money out of the ones on my list... :)

but i think the askoll pump model is a little more stable and possibly quiet.

ya i really like that you have the option of running it as a recirculating skimmer.

have you seen one beging used like that does it boost the performance much?

They are both running about the same. Recirc as 70scfh and in sump at 75scfh, both at 70w with a pf of .53 Personally I'd just use it as in sump. Its just easier.

i would use it in-sump to.I just like that the thought about it and actually make it so you could if you wanted to

I've always been one of those kinda guys that fabricates most of what ever I need, I have to admitt when I look at some of these skimmer for a grand or so I just cant see what part of the product warrants that kind of money lol heck their blowing bubbles in circles, how tough could it be ?
